We highly recommend a new report by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) that shows the connection between community forest rights and mitigating climate change.

As the Ford Foundation’s Director of Natural Resources and Sustainable Development David Kaimowitz puts it, the analysis shows that “one of the best ways to slow global warming is to give traditional communities the right to manage the forests where they have lived for generations.” The unprecedentedly comprehensive assessment is built on 130 previous studies and integrates recent satellite data.
